Member wavelength services

Shared DWDM capacity across the SPNA metro footprint.

SPN Alliance gives members a practical route to wavelength capacity across the shared estate, making it easier to extend reach between sites without building every segment independently.

What members use it for

Typical use cases include backbone extension, service handoff between member footprints, protected paths, and capacity for new delivery opportunities.

How it is delivered

Channels are allocated across the existing SPNA dark fibre estate, with planning shaped around route availability, resilience requirements, and the member service design.

Published pricing

Passive DWDM channel pricing is published for Associate and Full Members, with lower per-channel rates as members allocate more channels.

Public pricing

Published DWDM passive channel pricing for members.

Pricing is for passive channel allocation across the SPNA estate, covering all locations and multiplexers. Members choose which spans they wish to light and where. NRC means non-recurring charge; MRC means monthly recurring charge.

DWDM passive channel monthly charges by membership level
Channel allocation Associate Members MRC Full Members MRC Setup charge (NRC)
1 channel £625 per channel £500 per channel £0 Current special offer
2 channels £435 per channel £350 per channel £0 Current special offer
3 channels £350 per channel £283 per channel £0 Current special offer
4 or more channels £340 per channel £275 per channel £0 Current special offer
  • Pricing excludes VAT.
  • Members are allocated DWDM channels across the entire SPNA estate.
  • Members can choose which spans they wish to light and where.
  • Pricing is for passive channel allocation.

Site regeneration (1GE/10GE) £500 per channel, per site Optics not included.
DWDM optics Cost plus 5% Members may supply approved optics.
  • Site regeneration charges are one-off NRCs and apply per estate location where a member needs signal regeneration or breakout/conversion to 1310 nm, for example for a cross-connect or client handoff.
  • DWDM optics can be supplied from SPNA suppliers at cost plus 5%. Members can also supply their own optics, subject to specification approval by SPNA technical teams.

In development

100GE/400GE Wavelength services

We are currently developing managed 100GE and 400GE wavelength options across the SPNA footprint. These services are intended for members who need higher-capacity handoff, routed backbone extension, or larger inter-site requirements than passive channel allocation alone.

Availability is expected soon. Please talk to us if you have a route, capacity profile, or delivery window in mind so we can factor your requirement into the service design.
